USS UTAH SURVIVORS IN OUTER SPACE?
Not exactly; however, our photos, taken at our 2004 reunion did fly in outer space. Absolutely, thanks to the generosity of Mr. Burt Rutan, owner of a great company named SCALED COMPOSITES. Shown around the world on TV and read world wide in newspapers, Scaled Composites' craft "Space Ship One" flew into outer space twice in less than two weeks.
As shown in the photo below our picture was flown 29 September, 2004. This coup was possible since Daniel Kreigh, Structural Design Engineer for Space Ship One is the son of Mary Kreigh who "just happens" to be the Public Relations Director for the USS Utah Association. Mary also "just happens" to be the daughter of Chief Yeoman Albert T. D. Wagner, a USS Utah Survivor. Mary also "just happens" to be the twin sister of the tiny baby girl, Nancy Kreigh, whose ashes have been interred in the Hull of USS Utah at Pearl Harbor for the past 63 years.
